Xs and Os

I have used my photograph of the round floor drain in previous pieces, but hadn't used the square floor drain until now. If you are new to my work, I use my IPhone 12 camera to take photographs of all sorts of mundane, overlooked subjects. I alter the colour using very basic photo editing software, load the photos into a grid collage and have the sheets printed commercially.

Cutting the square drains diagonally for Xs and Os resulted in triangles so I did the same with the circles. Having prints made in colour as well as B & W allowed the distinctive diamond motif to emerge (after manipulating and moving the cut pieces around). I hope the viewer is drawn to the texture, shapes, composition and diagonal white spaces.
