Show & Tel is similar to Ground Covers I in that it includes my photographs of the metal covers imbedded in the concrete at a local gas station. I learned that these are covers for spill containment containers buried underground. 

However, Show & Tel is so named because of the inclusion of the manhole covers atop buried cement telephone utility vaults. I was drawn to the larger font of the text and I liked the idea of playing off the phrase 'show & tell". The other difference is that I have used a bluer tone than in Ground Covers I.  I am intrigued not only by the four pieces that make up each of the 25 large squares, but also by the resulting white grid 'lines' that add their own geometry. There are usually several iterations of the composition before I settle on the final one.

The subject matter in both collages is in keeping with my practice of photographing overlooked industrial subjects and my more recent focus on circles.
